SOBE FOOD AND WINE / SOBE FUN AND FIT

“2010 SOBE FUN AND FIT FOR THE FAMILY, WE HAD A BLAST HANGING OUT WITH THE LITTLE V.I.F CHEF” KIRK NELSON SAID.

SOBE Fun and Fit, all the famous chefs, Paula Deen, Rachael Ray, Guy Fieri, Kirk Nelson, Andre Walker, Roosevelt Desir and more, were doing live cooking demos for kids and their families.

“Our demos involved the youngsters, and whatever you made, you get to eat,” said Roosevelt Desir.

“It was an honor to be here working along side Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida for the second year,” Andre Walker exclaimed.

Many of the demos were set up stadium style where you could watch what was going on but could not partake in the actual demos.

So, what did that mean? You got to smell the food, see the food but you don’t get to eat it or partake in making it.

Be Organic and Blue Cross wanted to do something different this year; we wanted the kids and the parents to have fun. So what we did was create interactive demos where, as the kids would create there own Caribbean chicken wraps made with 100% organic ingredients, the parents would watch. This way they know what was going into their food, and it also made it an experience they will never forget.

Kirk mentioned V.I.F so I wanted to find out from one of the youngster if they knew what it meant. As I walked closer to the front of the line a little Kid jumped in front of me and blurted, “Hey, Sir you better join the line. No cutting around here.”

So I guess he would be the perfect Kid to ask! What is a V.I.F?

His reply was “come on, everyone knows what a V.I.F is…[I thought to myself this kid is a little ####]… a V.I.F is a VERY IMPORTANT FOODIE, and the only way to become a V.I.F is to partake in the Be Organic live cooking demo. But like I said before, no cutting, join the line if you want to become a V.I.F.”

-“Cute little kid.”

The foodies came up with a Caribbean chicken wrap; it was fun and easy to do. The best part about this demo was, one the kids got a chance to get down and dirty and make their own snacks. They got to put whatever they wanted on their wrap: Chicken, Tomato, Raisin, Corn, Lettuce, Carrot and to top it off we had Be Organic finishing sauce Honey Mango or Pineapple delight to choose from.

“Man they sound so good,” one kid beside me said “I will have both on my wrap. Why should I choose when they look so good together?”

“Smart little girl,” I said “I will also try both.” And to my surprise I was in heaven. This was the best wrap I had ever had. The flavor of the mango and the pineapple played on my tongue like a well tune orchestra. The cloud went away and the sun came out, and the day was complete.

Sorry about that but the Be Organic finishing sauce is so good I had to share that with you guys (back to the report).

This wasn’t the end this was just the begin. Now it was time for us to become V.I.Fs. We complete 2 out of 3 steps so far to become a V.I.F, and then came the moment of truth: the last show down to see who was going to be the chosen one. Well I couldn’t wait because (1) I had fun, (2) my wrap was the best looking, and (3) it gave me energy. So foodie Roosevelt walked to the middle of our demo area to pass on the finally judgment and welcome us into the hall of V.I.F.

“This is competition,” I kept playing in my mind, and my table as to be THE BEST TABLE INSIDE the BLUE CROSS AND BE ORGANIC TENT.

Let the game begin. As he pointed to table 3, they made a sound that could scare any bad guys away. Then he pointed to table 2 I think you could hear them form mars, but the best was yet to come. Table number 1, once he pointed to us the tent was up rooted and the earth open up as we woke up the dead and gave blind there sight back. I mean the tent came to life; there are no words to describe the energy of these guys. It felt like I was at a rock concert with over 6 million people yelling at the top of their lungs, but it was all for fun.

This reporter has to tip his hat off to the 3 Founders of Be Organic for putting on a wonderful show, and like I always say, “Never count out the underdog. Sometimes all they need is a little light so they can shine bright.” Kirk Nelson, Andre Walker, Roosevelt Desir, these gentlemen, I can’t wait until there cooking show comes out, oops that’s a insider for all my Be Organic Fans, can’t say I didn’t give you the heads up!!!
